hi! i was wondering if you had any advice for a beginner? i wrote fic before but reading your poems made me want to try. i wonder about your creative process and inspiration. thanks!

I just want you to know that I don’t really know what I’m doing myself?? so.. yeah

inspiration??? ummmmm I don’t really know but I know I read a lot of poems from other people, sometimes to know what I want to do, other times to know what I don’t want to do. so I’d say… read poems, and prose, and all kinds of things from different styles, languages even if you can. see words, watch them, sometimes one will stay in your mind and you’ll use it.

personally I take a lot of will to write from music. music sets me in certain moods, or enhances a mood I’m already in. when I want to write a poem about strong love feelings, for example, I usually put Lana Del Rey on? but I like when a text isn’t just about ONE emotion and one thing, so when I edit, I’ll put something else on, usually it’s Nine Inch Nails. VERY different styles, melodies and lyrics both. it helps adding depth to my texts, I think. I can see a text is better when I wrote it listening to all kinds of music than the ones I wrote w/o music on or just one style. I guess that would be my creative process??

there’s just one valid advice though: write. just write. all the time. keep a notebook with you always, or your phone whatever but NEVER let an idea slip away. and then write it and even if its just a line, save the file. some of my poems are puzzles, pieces of many different unfinished poems I wrote etc.
